Please review the following frequently asked questions prior to contacting us for support. We hope that the information provided here will answer most questions about the activation, security, and use of our products.
My product will not open, what should I do?
If this is the first time you are trying to use your product on a computer, please follow the activation instructions that appear after accepting the software license agreement.
I have previously activated my product but now it will not open, what do I do next?
If this is the same computer where initial activation occurred, please contact us using one of the methods described above. If this is a new or different computer, please follow the activation instructions after accepting the software license agreement.
Why do I need to activate my product? Don't I own it and can do whatever I want with it?
You have purchased a license to use the product but do not own the software itself. This is similar to most desktop PC software sold that is not open-source. Activation is required in order to protect the intellectual property rights held by Vibato® and to prevent accidental or unauthorized distribution of the product.
Why can't I access or modify all of the formulas and data in the product when I receive it?
SOX Compliance Made Simple® and SOX Basic® product toolsets perform complex calculations and contain comprehensive data and template linking capabilities. All formulas are locked down to comply with audit-related requirements, protect the intellectual property behind the development of these sophisticated tools, and prevent accidental modification or deletion of the contents. There is no end-user access to locked areas of the product toolset and compromising any password protection would constitute a violation of the license agreement.
Can I activate the products on as many computers as I want to or share them with everyone in the company?
Each copy of a SOX Compliance Made Simple® or SOX Basic® product toolset must be activated on each computer where it will be accessed. This is intended to prevent the accidental or unauthorized distribution of our intellectual property. Each product license is for a single location, or site, and may not be distributed to multiple sites under one license. A site is defined as a geographic location and may include an office, a building, or a set of buildings (e.g. campus) that all constitute the same general physical address. There is no limitation on how many computers can be activated for one copy of the product. However, due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the information contained in the product toolset we expect the distribution to be limited to a few computers at each location.
Can I customize the supplemental documentation provided to meet my needs?
Yes, all supplemental documentation can be modified unless otherwise indicated by Vibato®. Some toolsets which perform calculations will have locked areas to prevent accidental changes to the formulas that could compromise the outputs and these areas can only be modified by Vibato® resources.
If I started with SOX Basic® and now I need more than the 20 controls specified, what should I do?
Please contact us to discuss your situation and we will propose an upgrade path or solution that meets your needs.
